New patient information

At 818 Dental new patients are always welcome.

New patients are welcome at 818 Dental... always!

Join the 818 Dental family

One of the biggest problems we have is that we fix our patients' teeth properly so that over time most end up needing less dental repair work.

The generous referrals from our existing patients endorsing what we do is our best reward for looking after people well. We enjoy creating a great new patient experience.

For over 20 years, we have relied almost exclusively on word-of-mouth referrals (pardon the pun). Over these years one of our greatest joys is watching families begin, grow and even return with their own families!

Joining 818 Dental starts with a warm greeting followed by a digital check-in via iPad or if you prefer new patient records can be completed online before you attend.

Experience a warm welcome at 818 Dental

In the treatment rooms, we take digital images of your teeth and necessary rays. This allows us to create a customised treatment and addresses all of the concerns you have raised at this appointment.

It is a great time to get to know each other. You can ask us as many questions as you wish and get a feel for what 818 Dental and the team can do for you and your teeth.

What to expect at your first dental hygiene appointment

At 818 Dental our dental hygiene team is committed to helping all of our patients achieve optimal oral and dental health. Our aim is to ensure that your teeth and gums are clean and free from disease.

What to expect at your first dental hygiene appointment

At your first dental hygiene appointment, your dental hygienist will perform the following:

  1. A detailed review of your current medical history.
  2. A discussion around your current at-home care.
  3. Complete a full dental assessment to note your current dental condition and detect any potential problems.
  4. Radiographs may be taken to help identify decay in between teeth and to review the supporting bone structures.
  5. Complete a periodontal chart to measure the health of the gum and bone levels surrounding each tooth.
  6. Intra-oral and extra-oral photographs. This is used as a visual aid to help discuss a diagnosis. These show areas that may be of concern such as cracking, recession, decay, calculus and plaque deposits.
  7. Perform a gentle but professional full mouth clean using the latest technology from EMS Switzerland, the Airflow Dental Spa.
  8. Professional Fluoride application.
  9. Give tailored oral hygiene instruction and advice based on our findings.

Depending on the condition of your teeth and gums, some patients may require further hygiene appointments to manage conditions such as gingivitis and periodontitis. We will then book your routine preventative care appointment based on your assessments usually in either 3, 4 or 6 months.

After your first visit

Following your first appointment, we will design a tailored treatment plan based on our recommendations that best suits your lifestyle and dental concerns. This will detail the timeline of treatment, the number of appointments required and all the necessary costs involved. If there are alternative treatments, we will also discuss these with you.

We design what we think is the best treatment plan to your unique needs as dental professionals and experts in our field. We are also here to accommodate your preferences should you have personal reasons for wanting to pursue certain routes. For us, dentistry is a collaborative process so your input matters to us.
